In 2014-15, the number of children and youth ages 3-21 receiving special education services was 6.6million, which equals 13% of all public-school students. Learning disabilities affect up to 10% of children including dyslexia, autism and ADHD which works out to be two or three pupils in every classroom.

Thanks to advances in medical technology and knowledge, we live in a country and in an age where people with learning disabilities can now live normal, functional lives. This reaches children too, as children who have learning disabilities can receive the support and guidance they need to get the most out of their time in childhood, preparing them for their future.

In this course, you will be taught through the social dimensions of learning disabilities, while examining methods of teaching, caring for and managing pupils with learning disabilities. The course is perfect for teachers, teaching assistants, carers, SEN workers, or parents of children who have learning disabilities to improve their understanding of how to care for the child in question.
